Information included in the Watershed Management Plan provides a framework for the Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow Rivers Watershed Management Authority to assist federal, state, and local officials and agencies in addition to local stakeholders in protecting and preserving the natural resources in the Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow River watersheds, while guiding prudent development of resources required for economic development and improved quality of life for residents in southeast Alabama. Many times, local governments (cities and counties) lack sufficient information to make informed decisions concerning environmental or economic issues.
This document provides a wealth of informative data that can be used to guide planning and development decisions. It also contains detailed data from more than 300 references covering 32 categories of watershed topics including current demographics, land use, water quantity, quality and conservation, biological resources, economic impacts, interstate issues, education, and climate change.
